"The CSEE Institute was critical in helping me learn to lead a school that strives for human excellence as well as academic excellence. This organization is the torchbearer for social and emotional education, and their work is invaluable to the children and schools whom they serve.
Giulia Cox, Principal, Middle School 118, District 10, Region One, NYC
"In my 25+ years in educational and mental health, I have not attended a more salient or informative professional development experience than that provided by CSEE."
David Morton, Ph.D., Behavior Specialist, Pawtucket, R.I. School Department
"CSEE's work on social emotional growth has long been important and timely. After September 11, 2001, it has become indispensable."
Howard Gardner, Ph.D. Harvard University
"This was incredible, and for the first time at a conference I am leaving with concrete ideas that I feel I can implement at the start of the school year."
Kate Stinger, Classroom Teacher
St. Andrew's School

"I've been to many conferences and institutes during a lifetime in education, but this one was the best. I love the way you used ongoing evaluative feedback to stay 'on track.' The mix of large groups and small-group work was excellent. The intensity and productivity of small group discussions were amazing."
Elizabeth Saenger, Ethics Teacher
Fieldston School
New York, New York
"A turning point for our school toward a healthier working environment for ourselves and our students."
Mary Kay Sexton, Classroom Teacher, St. Andrew's School, Austin, Texas
"Attending the CSEE workshop not only gave me the information and background to effectively impact our district's curriculum, but it confirmed the academic value of focusing on the social emotional elements of child development. I returned to my school with renewed energy, revitalized passion and a clear vision of how to improve the odds for the youth of our community."
Vicki Noll, Student Assistance Coordinator, City School District, Hilliard, Ohio
Summer Institute 2005 was an exceptional learning experience affirming our common mission of growing and developing individuals to "shape a safe, sustainable, and just (and global) world" (Shelley Berman). Skills and competencies of social and emotional learning are essential for all members of our whole community. Summer Institute charged us to consider research based programming, to understand effective implementation processes of social and emotional education, and to initiate service-learning that is meaningful and provides reciprocal benefits to students and others. Summer Institute enhanced our collegial community to include others who are passionate and knowledgeable about social emotional education. I felt privileged to participate in CSEE's Summer Institute 2005 and am highly motivated to raise the capacity for social and emotional learning in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Judith L. Nuss, Coordinator of Social and Emotional Learning
Harrisburg School District

"The CSEE Summer Institute was an incredible experience. It was layered in a way that allowed every single day to have rich and meaningful content that "stuck", that "connected", that made sense no matter how much knowledge of social emotional education one arrived with. The program approached the principles from many angles. Didactic presentations, groups, role play, film, discussion, guest speakers, quiet reflection, art...it was amazing, and so energizing. They not only knew their information, but they had interesting and engaging ways to present it. All questions were answered thoroughly in quite helpful ways. The style of the Institute completely reflected what social emotional education is all about. We were listened to attentively; respected consistently; checked-in with regularly; challenged compassionately and encouraged generously. I look forward to ongoing work with CSEE. There is so much to learn, and learning from them is a joy!"

CSEE's institute is a national treasure. The institute integrates theory and practice linked to evidence based P-12 social, emotional and academic education and service learning. I would heartily recommend this summer school whatever your level of interest - strategic or operational. I found that there was something for everyone."
